The Truckee Fire Protection District was formed in April 1894. The District is a bi-county Special District serving approximately 120 square miles including the Town of Truckee and unincorporated portions of both Nevada and Placer Counties. The District’s mission is to protect, life, property, and wildlands in order to enhance the economic, environmental, and social benefits derived from these resources within the boundaries of the District.
Additionally, the District provides advanced life support emergency medical services including ambulance transportation to their constituents and visitors, defensible space education and inspections, community outreach programs such as public education, school informational programs, Big Truck Day participation, community “Night Out” event participation, two automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) available to the public free of charge on a short-term loan basis, and instructs monthly CPR courses.
The District is governed by an elected board of five Directors who are elected at large within the Districts jurisdictional boundaries. To learn more, visit truckeefire.org.
