Knowledge Bites

Knowledge Bites

Knowledge Bites, provides strategies for pivotal business skills broken into small digestible pieces. “We know professionals today are very busy, so we have taken an agile approach for learning key business skills and packed them into bite sized chunks,” explains Chamber board member Dave Sick. “In just 90 minutes, attendees will learn from real-life local businesses and local experts to attain new knowledge and skills to help them grow their business in today’s constantly changing economy. There will also be an interactive Q&A.”

Each session will focus on specific business topic such as, marketing basics, social media, or reinventing your business. Two chamber businesses will be featured as a case study. The case study businesses will be examined by two chamber members who are experts in their field to provide relevant and valuable advice. The expert presentations will be followed up by questions from the audience.

Knowledge Bites will be held every month, the 3rd Wednesday of the month, at the Truckee Airport, and will highlight a different topic, case studies, and experts each month. The Knowledge Bites series is presented by the Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce and generously sponsored by Plumas Bank. The location sponsor is the Truckee Tahoe Airport District.

“So often you attend a seminar and the information provided is so broad or abstract,” says Pam Hobday, Chamber board member. “This format provides immediate hands on feedback  for the real world. Local business experts use a case study format providing both a background of each local business and a strategy for the respective business topic in each meeting. Imagine being given marketing strategies or agile business planning real time. We believe this will be a tremendous value for everyone including businesses, experts and attendees”

The first Knowledge Bites will address Marketing Basics, not only the process through which you get and keep customers, but how you market in today’s quickly changing world. The case studies will be Donner Lake Marina & Watersports, and one other member business (still being confirmed). Expert assessments will be provided by Dave Sick of Brand Breadcrumbs, and Meg Urie Rab of SmallPond Studio.

The first Knowledge Bites will be held June 18th from 8:30-10:00am at the Truckee Airport, 10356 Truckee Airport Road. Cost to attend is $10 for chamber members and $20 for non-members and includes light breakfast catered by Full Belly Deli. Registration is required and can be done at http://www.TruckeeChamber.com. Attendance is limited to 30 people.

The 3/50 Project

The 3/50 Project

3: Think of three local businesses you'd miss most if all of a sudden you found they were gone. Stop in and say hello. Pick up a little something. Your contribution is what keeps those businesses around.

50: Spend $50 — it doesn't have to be all in that one store. The idea is to commit $50 each month to local businesses, total.

1: The number of people it takes to start the trend... you. The 3/50 Project is simple, attainable, with an immediate "call to action". This simple shift of dollars gives back to the local economy, supports local jobs and keeps the independent spirit alive. For more information, visit www.the350project.net

Its mission is to provide a viable and legitimate forum in which local businesses can promote their sustainable practices. Businesses must meet our criteria – both mandatory and voluntary – to become a partner. KSG publicly recognizes these businesses with the intention of honoring their commitment while increasing awareness in the community. Our logo is designed to promote program recognition and enable customers to support our partners and their values.
